Who we are
OSMI is a desktop workspace made by Al-Majeed Research Labs, a venture of the Al-Majeed Group. For anything in this policy, contact us at almajeed.work@gmail.com.
Local-first by architecture
Your work — notes, datasets, chats, citations, literature reviews, PDF annotations and settings — is stored on your machine, in ~/.osmi, with owner-only file permissions (700/600) and crash-safe atomic writes.
We do not run servers that receive, store or back up the content you create in OSMI. If you delete ~/.osmi, that data is gone — we could not recover it even if you asked, because we never had it.
Optional account sign-in
OSMI offers an optional sign-in through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). When you sign in, Firebase processes your name, email address and profile picture to authenticate you; this is governed by Google's privacy policy. Guests can try the home chat with two free chats; a free account unlocks the rest of the workspace.
AI providers you choose
When you chat with a model or agent, your prompt travels directly from your device to the provider you selected — GitHub Models, Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (Codex), Google (Gemini), GitHub Copilot or Mistral. OSMI does not proxy, inspect or retain that traffic on any server of ours.
Each provider handles your data under its own terms and privacy policy. Agents authenticate through their own official sign-in flows; OSMI never sees, stores or transmits your API keys or passwords.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not harvest the content of your notes, files, datasets or conversations.
Your control
You can sign out at any time, remove the app, and delete ~/.osmi to erase everything OSMI stored locally. Settings includes a one-click audit that re-hardens file permissions.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be called out in release notes.
